Our Grass-Fed whey is non-GMO, antibiotic free, and hormone free. Absolutely no nasties that can be passed on to you. Grass-fed whey contains higher amounts of beneficial micronutrients which the body needs for good health. It contains high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, which is the same highly-beneficial fat is that found in salmon. Also, various beneficial vitamins and minerals are found in Grass-Fed whey, in higher amounts than their grain-fed/feed lot counterparts. Finally, there is an excellent suite of essential amino acids in Grass-Fed whey which are the building blocks of all cells in our body. This helps with improving muscle and recovery, as well as boosts our immunity and cell tissue repair, including in our organs, joints, hair, skin and nails.
There is virtually unanimous agreement amongst specialists that whey protein is the ideal choice in this context, owing to its superior amino acid profile, rapid rate of delivery to working muscles and the highest ability to turn on muscle protein synthesis when compared to all other proteins. Sadly, the vast majority of supplemental whey protein powders, contain whey from feed-lot, grain-fed cows, an impressive array of artificial sweeteners, unpronounceable chemical additives, and a host of unproven ingredients.
Our whey comes from 100% healthy and well cared for Australian grass-fed dairy cattle. Our suppliers have a zero tolerance policy for any act of animal cruelty and the farms are routinely audited to ensure they are complying with excellent animal care standards. The dairy cows graze on the lush pastures of the south-western coast of Victoria. Being certified pasture-fed, means that for at least 70% of any year the cows diet consists of only the naturally occurring grass in the field in which they live. Outside of this, at times of the year when grass does not flourish, they are fed green vegetation (known as silage). In rare and extreme conditions such as drought, the cows will be fed Australian grains as a means of preservation.
With Grass-Fed cows, we can use regenerative agricultural practice. It allows for the natural process of nutrients to re-nourish the earth, via manure back into the pasture, so that the cycle can continue. Much of today's farming practice depletes the soil to the point that it's no longer functional, even to natural vegetation or trees. This is a great loss to our Mother Earth.
All of the ingredients are beneficial and we exclude anything else that is unproven or unnecessary. We just simply don't add anything that you don't need. Just great quality whey protein powder that does the job it is meant to do. And it just happens to taste unbelievably good. Our protein powder doesn’t include emulsifiers which other protein powders might have – this is the reason why it doesn’t dissolve as quickly as other powders. Emulsifiers are detergent-like substances that are added to foods to increase shelf life, decrease clumping, agglomeration and separation, and improve texture and consistency. Many protein powders use emulsifiers to allow for instantaneously smooth consistency when they are added to liquids along with adding to a prolonged shelf life.
The reason why we don’t include emulsifiers is because it messes with our gut flora and natural processes in our digestive system. Adding emulsifiers usually counteracts the benefits of most health supplements. Emulsifiers have caused irregularity and bowl problems, as well as cramping and other discomfort in some people. These symptoms are painful and uncomfortable, but most importantly are indications of an unhappy digestive system.
Whey protein powder is hydrophilic which means the molecules are naturally attracted to water. It will dissolve in water, but it just takes slightly longer than other powders which have emulsifiers.
Our best recommendation is to use a shaker: Make sure you add the liquid (water/milk) to your shaker first, then add the protein powder to the liquid. Then shake the mixture, and then let sit for 1-3 minutes. After that, shake again. This allows for the powder and water/milk to naturally blend together.
We suggest a 60gram serve (2x 30g serves) which provides just above 40g of protein.
Current evidence indicates high quality protein intakes around 1.6 grams per kilogram of body weight per day, achieve optimal health outcomes. If your are consuming this drink at the same time as a high protein meal, then you may choose to use a smaller serve.
An ideal time to consume whey protein is within an hour of exercise, as this aids hydration and expedites the recovery process. However if you are using it to boost levels of protein in your diet, you may choose to consume it with a meal that is lacking in adequate amounts of protein.
Almost everyone is suited to this product, however we do recommend that if you are under 15 years of age, pregnant, nursing or under medical supervision that you consult with your health care provider first.
Seal the package immediately after use, and store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
