Clean Protein Powder

HASTA-certified. Lab-tested for heavy metals on every batch. Made in a HACCP-certified Australian facility with a 5-Star Health Rating. The clean claim, with the receipts.

Plenty of clean protein powders in Australia use the word clean to drive their sales. Far fewer can prove that their product earns this label.

Not us. Every batch we produce is screened against the WADA prohibited substances list by HASTA (Australia's independent supplement-testing program) and independently lab-tested for heavy metals. Our manufacturing facility is HACCP-certified with a 5-Star Health Rating under FSANZ guidelines. And we publish our lab results so you can read them yourself. That's what clean protein means at Australian Natural Protein Company.

How We Prove It's Clean

Anyone can print "clean" on a tub. Here's the paper trail behind ours.

HASTA-certified, batch by batch

HASTA (Human and Supplement Testing Australia) is the country's independent program for screening supplements against the WADA prohibited substances list. Every batch of our clean whey protein powder undergoes HASTA testing before it reaches you.

That matters for professional and drug-tested athletes, who can use it without risk to their careers. But it matters for everyone else, too. HASTA doesn't just screen ingredients; it audits the entire manufacturing process for cross-contamination risks, because banned substances can enter a supplement through the facility, not just through what's in the formula. When a batch passes, it means the whole chain has been checked.

Heavy metals tested

Heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic) occur in trace amounts in many natural foods, including dairy products. The question isn't whether they exist at all; it's whether they're below the safe-consumption thresholds set by FSANZ. Every batch of our clean whey protein is independently tested, and the results are published on our site.

Our internal limits are tighter than the FSANZ thresholds. If a batch ever fell outside those limits, it wouldn't ship, and the lab page would be updated for full transparency.

Made in a HACCP-certified Australian facility.

HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) is the gold-standard food manufacturing safety system used by the most rigorously regulated producers in the country. Our facility is HACCP-certified with a 5-Star Health Rating, operating under FSANZ guidelines from start to finish.

That means your protein powder is Australian-made and produced in a facility with the same hygiene and safety standards as the best food manufacturers in the nation.

Made by exercise scientists who use it themselves.

Our founders are qualified exercise scientists with over 25 years of clinical experience. The certifications above aren't there because they look good on a label, but because the people who built this product won't take a supplement they haven't personally vetted. This is clean protein powder that we’d give to our families.

What "Clean" Doesn't Mean

Claiming the "cleanest whey protein" label is overused on supplement shelves. So here's what we're not pretending it means.

  • It doesn't mean organic: The whey itself isn't certified organic. Our pastures are managed regeneratively, free of synthetic pesticides and herbicides, and the cows are antibiotic- and hormone-free, but we don't carry the certified organic label on the whole product. The one exception is our chocolate protein powder, which contains certified organic cocoa.
  • It doesn't mean zero allergens: It's whey, so it contains dairy, and it’s unsuitable for vegan diets. If you have severe lactose intolerance, a concentrate may not work for you, and an isolate might suit you better.
  • It doesn't mean medicinal: Under Australian law, supplements aren't medicines, and we don't position them as such. We don't claim to treat, cure, or prevent anything. What we do claim is a clean, high-quality source of protein, tested thoroughly at every step.
  • It doesn't mean we get to call ourselves "the cleanest": "Best clean protein powder in Australia" is a claim that needs a number to back it up. What we can say is that every certification we hold is earned honestly, and every result is public.

Five Wholefood Ingredients You Can Recognise

We believe that the cleanest whey protein should start with an ingredient list short enough to remember.

Ours has five: Whey Protein Concentrate, sourced from grass-fed Aussie cows and gently processed using ultrafiltration to keep the protein non-denatured; Ground Vanilla Bean or Organic Cocoa Powder, depending on the flavour; Inulin, a natural prebiotic fibre from chicory root; Natural Sweetener (Stevia Leaf Extract); and Sunflower Lecithin, cold-pressed and solvent-free.

Clean Protein Powder with Nothing to Hide

Every certification we claim, we hold honestly. Every result, we publish. This is clean protein powder and grass fed protein powder sources, tested at every step, made in Australia, backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Try it for 30 days. If it's not for you, we'll refund it. That's clean protein with a backing.

Clean Protein Powder FAQs

What's HASTA, and why does it matter if I'm not an athlete?

HASTA (Human and Supplement Testing Australia) is an independent program that screens supplements against the WADA prohibited substances list. It exists primarily for drug-tested athletes, but the testing process audits the entire supply chain for contamination, banned substances, and label accuracy.

Even if you'll never compete in anything, HASTA-certified means the supplement has cleared a higher bar than most products on the shelf. The batch-by-batch approach means our clean whey protein undergoes ongoing audits.

How do I see your lab results?

They're published on the Lab Testing Results page. We list HASTA certificates and heavy metals reports there. If you want results for a specific batch of clean protein powder in Australia, get in touch, and we'll send them through directly.

What heavy metals do you test for, and what are the safe limits?

Lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic are the four metals monitored by FSANZ in the manufacture of supplements. Safe-consumption thresholds are set by FSANZ, and our internal limits are tighter than the regulatory floor. If a batch ever comes back outside our limits, it doesn’t ship.

Is "clean" a regulated term in Australia?

No. Under FSANZ guidelines, "clean" isn't a defined or regulated claim, which is exactly why it gets used so loosely across the supplement aisle.

In our clean whey protein powder, we use the term to refer to a specific, named set of certifications: HASTA, HACCP, 5-Star Health Rating, and batch-by-batch heavy metals testing.

Why concentrate and not isolate? Isn't isolate "cleaner"?

Not really. Isolate goes through an extra filtration step that removes more lactose and fat, but it also strips out the bioactive fractions (lactoferrin, immunoglobulins) that make whey nutritionally valuable beyond just protein content.

Our hormone-free whey protein is WPC, not WPI, and it's a deliberate choice. Gently processed via ultrafiltration, non-denatured, and with the full amino acid profile intact. For most people, it’s better. If you have severe lactose intolerance, an isolate may suit you better, and that’s fine because we’re all about finding what works for your wellness.

Has any batch ever failed testing?

We don't have a failed batch to report. The supply chain is tightly controlled, and the HACCP-certified facility minimises contamination risk from the ground up.

But the protocol is firm: any batch that comes back outside our internal limits is held back. If a result is ever flagged, the lab page gets updated. We're not in the business of quietly moving on. Every result we have is published, and if you want to see a specific batch's certificate, ask us.
